Dry Skin
Dry skin is a common skin problem that affects many people at different stages of life. Dry skin can cause discomfort and affect the appearance of the skin. It can cause redness, itching, flaking and a tight feeling. The protective layer of dry skin is fragile and often lacks protective lipids and ceramides. As a result, transepidermal water loss occurs, i.e. the skin's internal moisture is allowed to evaporate through the surface. Dry skin is also more vulnerable to external stimuli and dryness can predispose or aggravate existing skin problems.
Symptoms

Irritation and itching: Dry skin may cause irritation, burning and intense itching.
Flaking: the skin may flake and small "skin flakes" may appear on the surface of the skin.
Redness: the skin may become red, especially when irritated.
Roughness: The skin may feel rough and uneven. It may lose its smoothness and softness.

Treatment

Strengthening the skin's protective layer is a key part of dry skin care. A strong protective layer helps maintain skin health, moisture and elasticity.

Regular moisturising: Choose a product that contains moisturising ingredients such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid or urea.
Regular exfoliation: Regular exfoliation should be regular. By removing the dry surface cells that have accumulated on the surface of the skin, specific products can work and be better absorbed by the skin. This allows the skin to breathe and prevents sebum from getting trapped under the dry surface and causing impurities. The dry surface of the skin will look dull and make-up may remain uneven. For those with dry skin, it is important to choose a gentle exfoliator that is suitable for your skin type.
Avoid drying products: Use gentle cleansers that are optimised for your skin.

Klinik Linnea recommends
In the treatment of dry skin, it is important to identify the causes of dryness, strengthen the skin and develop a home care programme optimised for the skin type. Especially in the Nordic countries during the coldest seasons, it may feel that home care alone is not enough to maintain the skin's moisture balance. In this case, Klinik Linnea recommends deep moisturising treatments (Restylane Skinboosters and Juvederm Volite), mesotherapy, Profhilo and PRP.
