Tattoo removal with Hollywood Spectra laser

Do you have a tattoo that you got in the past that no longer feels like yours? Do you want to give up permanent pigmentation such as eyebrow microblading or eye liner? Lutronic Hollywood Spectra is the market-leading Nd:YAG Q-switch laser that uses the latest, safe short-pulse laser technology. With Hollywood Spectra, we can completely remove both black and more challenging, coloured tattoos. At Klinik Linnea, tattoo removal is performed by nurses specially trained in laser procedures.

What is the treatment?

The purpose of the laser beam is to identify a specific colour in the skin and break it down into smaller particles that will be carried away by the metabolism over the coming months. Hollywood Spectra is the first laser we can use for tattoo removal to also perform fractional treatment on the area. This allows for a better treatment process, faster recovery, improves skin texture, corrects any unevenness in colour or corrects any scarring under the tattoo. The tattoo ink is actively removed from the treatment area every day for the next three months. The next treatment is recommended after the healing period. You can speed up the fading process yourself through active exercise, a metabolism-boosting lifestyle and recommended skin care.

The dye only absorbs a certain wavelength, so the laser device must offer the possibility of removing colours with different wavelengths of handpieces. With Hollywood Spectra, we can remove all tattoo colours except white. Green and blue colours are the most challenging to remove and may require a higher number of treatments.

Tattoos can also be faded, for example, for a cover-up or tattoo repair. It is also possible to remove only the desired part of the tattoo with precision. The process of image fading is otherwise the same as for tattoo removal, but usually fewer treatments are needed (one to three). If the idea is to take a cover photo over the faded tattoo, it is recommended to wait about three months after the last laser treatment before taking a new tattoo on the same area, so that the new image does not start to fade while the subcutaneous process is still ongoing.

What are the results of the treatment?

Complete tattoo removal requires an average of 5-10 treatments. Hollywood Spectra has the ability to remove the entire image. Tattoo removal is always an individual process and therefore the exact number of treatments cannot be known before the procedure, but we will always give you an estimate before the start of the treatment and will make an accurate treatment plan. Factors that affect tattoo removal and the speed of colour fading include the colour binders used in the tattoo, how deeply the colour has been applied to the skin, whether there is scarred skin under or under the image, how old the tattoo is, the size and location of the tattoo, and the client's own metabolism and skin condition and skin care practices.

The treatment process always starts with a consultation with a nurse, where the client's situation is assessed on an individual basis. The consultation can take place in the clinic, via video teleconference or by photo consultation via email. On this basis, we will provide a price estimate and an indicative estimate of the number of extractions. The cost of the consultation will be reimbursed at the first appointment.

What is included in the treatment?

First, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin and left on for about 15 minutes before the treatment starts. If you prefer, you can also pick up Emla anaesthetic cream from the pharmacy and apply it to the area to be treated, under a plastic wrap, about an hour before the procedure. During the treatment, we use a Zimmer Cryo6 cold blower to reduce the sensation of heat and pinching on the skin and ensure a safe treatment with the warm laser beam. Depending on the size and colour of the tattoo, a single laser treatment takes approximately 5-30 minutes. After the procedure, an aftercare cream is applied to the treated area, an aftercare guide is reviewed and you are treated to a relaxing and restorative Klinik Linnean moment.

Are there any restrictions to the treatment?

The treatment is not recommended for pregnant women and breastfeeding women. Do not undergo the treatment if you have Herpes simplex, open wound/skin lesion, skin cancer, stage 4 acne, warts, bacterial/fungal infections, solar keratosis, haemophilia or scleroderma. If you have any questions about the suitability of a treatment for you, you can contact the Klinik Linnea staff directly.

Recovery period and aftercare instructions

After the treatment, the skin is reddened and swollen. Water blisters may also appear on the skin. Symptoms usually subside within the first week. It is a good idea to lubricate the treated area at home several times a day for the first week, we recommend ZO Skin Health Soothing Ointment aftercare cream. It is a good idea to avoid saunas and hot water until the area is completely healed and intact. The area should be protected from direct sunlight for at least 5 weeks after the treatment, after which the skin should always be protected with sunscreen or a textile. There is a risk of hyperpigmentation of the area if the above points are not observed.

Maintenance of results

During the treatment process, we recommend that you maintain a planned home care regime for your skin and a lifestyle that maintains your metabolism, for example through exercise. This will speed up the cleansing of the ink pigment from the skin and thus contribute to the results.
